FAQs

  • Wintersun’s mobile sauna is a 7’ x 16’ traditional Finnish wood-fired sauna, built on a custom trailer and lined with aromatic clear cedar. At its heart is an Huum stove from Estonia, designed to create the perfect löyly, the gentle, rolling steam that makes sauna so restorative.

    • Improved circulation – Heat widens blood vessels, boosting blood flow and oxygen delivery.

    • Detoxification – Sweating helps flush out impurities from the body.

    • Muscle recovery & pain relief – Heat relaxes muscles, eases joint stiffness, and supports recovery after exercise.

    • Reduced inflammation – Sauna use may help calm inflammation, a root cause of many health issues.

    • Stress relief – The rhythm of heat, cold, and rest lowers cortisol and promotes deep relaxation.

    • Improved sleep – Many find sauna sessions help them unwind and sleep more soundly.

    • Mood boost – Saunas stimulate endorphins, helping to ease anxiety, depression, and seasonal blues.

    • Stronger immune system – Regular use can support the body’s natural defenses.

    • Social connection – Sharing the sauna experience builds community and a sense of belonging.

  • Yes, we will have cold plunge tubs available as long as temps are above freezing. As guests at these farms we can not risk freezing their pipes.

  • We are currently located at Huguenot Street Farms until March:

205 Huguenot St, New Paltz, NY 12561

However, as a mobile sauna, we hold residencies at various locations. Double check the location in your confirmation email after booking your sauna session.

  • We suggest bringing a water bottle, sandals good for getting wet, two towels (one for sitting on while in the sauna and one for drying off) and something comfortable to change into after your session.

  • At Wintersun Sauna, we embrace the elements—but safety always comes first. We will pause sessions only if weather conditions could be unsafe for guests or for travel to the sauna. This includes extreme cold that could lead to frostbite, heavy snow or ice that makes transportation hazardous, or severe weather such as heavy rain or lightning.

If weather impacts a session, we’ll be in touch as early as possible to reschedule or offer a credit.

  • Our sauna ranges from 140 to 200 degrees.

  • It’s common to notice red spots, patterns of redness, or a flushed face after your session. This is completely normal, it’s simply your circulation responding to the sauna’s natural medicine.

  • Sauna is generally best suited for adults and older teens. We welcome guests 18 and over. Youth ages 16–17 may join with a parent or guardian present. For safety reasons, sauna use is not recommended for young children.

  • Refunds are only issued up to 48 hours in advance of the scheduled session.
